GRMC Auxiliary Chemotherapy and Infusion Suite
Located on the first floor of the medical center near the laboratory, this is a gorgeous space flooded with natural light and windows. Its creation was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the GRMC Auxiliary and other donors.
In developing this space, architects worked with Iowa artist Lee Emma Running to create a soothing environment for patients having infusions. Running created a site-specific installation, which means she was involved in developing the art prior to construction. The art puts botanical life into this physical space. Shadows of plant etchings on the glass grace the floor and walls.
Quality Care Close to Home
Advanced diagnostic options allow area residents to undergo testing, medical and surgical treatments, and recovery/rehabilitation while remaining in the community where they feel comfortable. Family practice physicians, surgeons, a visiting oncologist, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services all partner to provide the best care and treatment options.
GRMC can provide most infusion therapies, including the common ones of Reclast, Remicade, antibiotics, hydration fluids, iron, blood product administration, injections, picc lines, central venous line/catheter, along with nearly all chemotherapy infusions. Even if your oncologist is located elsewhere, GRMC can still provide this service to you with an order form from your doctor. Call us at 641-236-2395.
Oncologist Steven Heddinger, MD, sees patients on Mondays at GRMC. GRMC also accepts orders from medical centers and physicians across the state as well as in adjacent states. This allows patients to receive needed therapies in Grinnell, close to home.
Alicia Rohach, chemotherapy/infusion registered nurse, supported by Gwen Weghorst, provides a supportive and positive environment for patients needing infusion therapy and chemotherapy.
GRMC performs infusions, including chemotherapy, five days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
