You Can See What?

Most people are aware of the availability of obstetrical ultrasounds for pregnant women.bigstock--182642287_LR You know, those almost non-descript black and white images of what you can only assume is a growing baby? Well, did you know there are also such things as medical ultrasounds? These are used to see internal organs as well as blood flowing through the blood vessels. GRMC offers cardiac, vascular, abdominal, and obstetrical/pelvic ultrasounds.

It can be an important diagnostic tool for your healthcare physician or provider to
problem-solve what is causing a health concern. It’s a look inside without actually
going into your body.

Ultrasound imaging is a safe, painless diagnostic procedure. It bounces sound waves off internal organs or structures and then captures the returning echoes as a photograph or moving image on a monitor. There is no injection or radiation exposure associated with ultrasound studies.

When your primary care provider recommends a medical ultrasound, turn to GRMC’s radiology department.
