What is the practice style at GRMC?
Family medicine based including MDs, DOs, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants. The family medicine practitioners make referrals to specialists as needed.

How do I know GRMC is a great place to practice?
We have demonstrated excellence in clinical data as well as patient satisfaction data.

How much time is needed to receive an Iowa medical license?
Generally, the process takes approximately 60 days for a new license application. Use the Iowa Board of Medicine’s website: as the first source of information about this process.

How long should I allow to become credentialed at GRMC?
You must go through a credentialing process before you are allowed to work here. You will need to complete an application and provide numerous documents. Then we will verify the information on your application. This generally takes a minimum of 30 days once we receive all the information.

How much money will I make?
Income depends on your specialty, experience, and practice style.

What is the call schedule like?
It depends on the specialty of your practice. Family medicine has two call groups. The surgeons and anesthesiologists take turns providing call coverage. Our goal is a minimum four-day rotation. Call the Office of Medical Staff Services for specifics.

What is the quality of life in Grinnell?
It’s great. You can be to work in five minutes or less (depending on where you live.) This safe community is home to Grinnell College, an excellent liberal arts college. Grinnell boasts an excellent K-12 school system, religious diversity, many parks, lakes, trails, and recreation opportunities.

What is there to do in Grinnell?
Check the Grinnell Chamber of Commerce website for weekly activities. 

What about daycare options?
Grinnell has four daycare options and five licensed pre-schools for children, plus many private childcare providers.

Will Grinnell offer enough for my family?
Yes. Grinnell offers outdoor recreation – bike trail, walking trails, parks, and lakes; theaters – community, high school, and college; free college programs – athletics and fine arts, high school activities – athletics and fine arts; restaurants; movie theater;  and a new art center with daily programming. Activities include Friday Fests, Farmers Market, Jingle Bell Holiday, Get into Grinnell, Grinnell Games, golf outings, and the big Fourth of July celebration.
